Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has appointed Dorset's current deputy chief constable to replace DCC Ben Snuggs who departed earlier this year.

DCC Sam de Reya is joining Hampshire next month after two years as Dorset's deputy chief.

She said: “I will use my experience and focus on performance to support teams across the organisation to proactively and relentlessly pursue criminality, provide excellent local policing to prevent and deter crime while putting victims at the centre of everything we do."

Her appointment has been welcomed by Hampshire chief constable Scott Chilton who made the same move late last year.

“Sam will bring considerable skills and experience to Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, having previously held senior positions in two other forces and has a proven track record in delivering outstanding policing."

In terms of other roles, DCC de Reya was Dorset's ACC for Operations for just over a year between April 2020 and August 2021.

She joined the force from Devon and Cornwall Police where she was Chief Superintendent and Commander for North, East and West Devon.

Former Hampshire DCC Ben Snuggs joined Thames Valley Police earlier this year.
