The Commissioner of the Met Police has unveiled a new senior leadership team as the force bids to "deliver the police service that Londoners deserve".

Something of a restructure has been in the works for a while, and now Sir Mark Rowley has confirmed who will spearhead the Met as it works to implement its 'Turnaround Plan' to rebuild trust, reduce crime and improve standards over the next two years.

While some appointments - including those of Assistant Commissioners Barbara Gray and Matt Twist - have already been made, the Commissioner has now revealed the full extent of the changes at the top table.

Four new Deputy Assistant Commissioners have been promoted to lead on operational policing, while a new Superintendent role has been introduced to every London boroughs to drive forward the delivery of neighbourhood policing.

DAC Helen Millichap moves from Specialist Operations to lead on a new approach to local policing, where she will oversee a team of Commanders with responsibility for specific geographic areas and particular specialisms.

DAC Ade Adelekan will oversee a portfolio including public order policing, uniformed operations and criminal justice, while DAC Alexis Boon will take on a new performance role to ensure Londoners are being provided with the best service.

Leading the Met’s Specialist Crime Command will be DAC Matt Ward, who joins from West Midlands Police where he was an Assistant Chief Constable. 

Alongside AC Gray and AC Twist, AC Louisa Rolfe will continue to lead on Frontline Policing while AC Matt Jukes will continue to lead on Specialist Operations.

DAC Lawrence Taylor has moved across to Specialist Operations and will lead on Protection and Security while DAC Tim Jacques will continue as Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing.

Sir Mark is convinced this team offers the "experience, diversity, energy and determination" needed as the Met begins a new era.
