Police Scotland Chief Superintendent Thom McLoughlin is set to move to Humberside to take up the role of Assistant Chief Constable.

Thom McLoughlin has been a police officer for more than 28 years and has worked at a number of forces across the UK.

He has also worked as an international police advisor, and was a senior planner and led the CBRN response for COP26, before taking on the role of divisional commander for specialist policing covering the entirety of Scotland.

Chief Constable, Lee Freeman, said: “Thom’s expertise in crime and specialist operations will be a great asset to Humberside, as we continue to drive forward our proactive policing operation, Operation Galaxy. Since its formation, Operation Galaxy has disrupted major organised crime groups, taking more than £10m worth of drugs and hundreds of dangerous weapons, off the streets.”

On the announcement, Ch Supt McLoughlin commented: ‘‘I am thrilled to be joining Humberside Police as Assistant Chief Constable. The force has seen a remarkable transformation in recent years, which was recently acknowledged in its latest HMICFRS inspection, and I’m looking forward to being part of that outstanding journey moving forward.”

Ch Supt McLoughlin is due to join Humberside in March.
