GMP ACC Scott Green has been appointed as the new West Midlands Deputy Chief Constable.

He will take over from the current DCC, Vanessa Jardine, who is moving to Northumbria to become Chief Constable.

ACC Green started his career in South Yorkshire – initially serving in Sheffield. He served in a number of roles there including in uniform and CID, and worked as the forerunner of the National Counter Terrorism Policing network. He left South Yorkshire as Chief Superintendent, District Commander for Barnsley.

He graduated from the Strategic Command Course in March 2020 and was appointed as ACC in Staffordshire that summer – he had responsibility for contact, response, partnership and neighbourhoods.

He joined GMP in 2021 and currently has responsibility for all 10 policing districts across the Greater Manchester.

He is the NPCC lead for Alcohol Harm and Vulnerability.

ACC Green said: “I am delighted to accept the position of Deputy Chief Constable and I am looking forward to working with the talented team at West Midlands Police to improve our service for people across the region and make communities safer.”

Chief Constable Craig Guildford said: “I am delighted that Scott Green will be joining West Midlands Police as Deputy Chief Constable. He will bring a wealth of experience to the role and I am looking forward to working with him to provide an outstanding local policing service for our communities.”

ACC Green is expected to take up the position in Spring.
