DCC Foster will initially join the force as a DCC in February 2023 before picking up the Chief's role when CC Gary Roberts retires at the end of March.

By the time he leaves, CC Roberts will have completed 39 years’ service, and has been Chief Constable since 2013 – making him the longest serving Chief in the British Isles.

His successor, DCC Foster has over 30 years’ experience in policing and has been a Chief Officer for almost 10 years.

He is a trained CT Commander, Specialist Strategic Firearms Commander, Strategic Public Order Commander and Sporting Events Commander.

He joined West Yorkshire as ACC in 2014 after previously serving at all ranks across three forces in the East Midlands.

DCC Foster has undertaken roles within Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) and as a Senior Investigating Officer within the Homicide and Major Crime Unit,  Head of the Professional Standards Directorate and Head of Serious & Organised Crime Unit.

He was appointed DCC in September 2019.

DCC Foster said: “I feel extremely privileged to become the next Chief Constable of the Isle of Man Constabulary and I’m really looking forward to the unique challenge of ensuring that the Isle of Man continues to be the safest place in the British Isles. Mr Roberts has an esteemed reputation and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside him prior to his retirement.”
