Deputy Assistant Commissioners Barbara Gray and Matt Twist have been appointed as Assistant Comissioners at the Metropolitan Police.

The officers will now join the force's Management Board; DAC Gray as the AC for Professionalism and DAC Twist the AC for Met Operations on "a long-term temporary basis" according to the force.They will both start on October 10.

DAC Gray joined the Met in April 2021 as Deputy Assistant Commissioner after a decorated policing career in Northern Ireland. DAC Twist joined the Met in 1996, returning to the force in 2016 following a three-year stint with Surrey Police.

The Management Board has been earmarked to play a key role in advancing Met reforms which are to be set out by Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley this afternoon.

Professor Lawrence Sherman will also join the force as its first Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and advisor to the Board. From October 1, Professor Sherman will provide independent and expert advice on science, technology and research methods to inform decision making across the Met.

Sir Mark Rowley said: “I’m excited to make these senior appointments to my new leadership team, and look forward to working with them all in their new roles."

AC Louisa Rolfe will move from her current role leading Met Operations to take on responsibility for Frontline Policing, while AC Matt Jukes will continue as Assistant Commissioner for Specialist Operations (ACSO).
