CC John Campbell has said he will retire from TVP at the end of his term on March 31, 2023.

He has been the Chief for four years, with TVP for 13 years and in policing for 35 years.

The PCC is due to announce the recruitment process for his successor today.

CC Campbell originally joined West Midlands in 1988 before transferring to Hampshire in 2001 and then TVP in 2010.

Whilst in Hampshire, he spent four years as the Police Commander in Portsmouth and then became Chief Superintendent in charge of Uniform Operations.

He later went on to command uniform operations across Hampshire and TVP as Assistant Chief Constable (Operations).

CC Campbell has commanded numerous firearms and public order events and led the multi-agency response to the flooding in Oxfordshire and Berkshire in 2014.

In 2015 he received the Queen Police Medal in the birthday honours list.

CC Campbell said: “It has been an honour serving the communities of the Thames Valley, and I am immensely proud of the officers, staff and volunteers who work around the clock, every single day, to keep our communities safe.”

PCC Matthew Barber said: “I thank him for his contribution to the police service, especially his leadership of the force and his focus on delivering on mine and my predecessors police and crime plan.

“I have very much enjoyed working with John and am proud of what he has achieved for the force and I will be sorry to see him leave.

“John will continue to lead the force over the next seven months and ensure the force continues to work tirelessly to protect our communities across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.”
