Victim Liaison Officers (VLO) work with victims of violent or sexual offenders who are sentenced to more than one year in custody and where the victims opt for contact. VLOs keep victims informed about key stages or events in the offenders’ sentence e.g. change of Prison location or a move to open prison conditions, impending release and possible location after release. VLOs also ensure that victims’ views and concerns are conveyed to parole boards when release is being considered.
