PSD Complaints & Misconduct Coordinator

Key Accountabilities include:

  • To process correspondence, identifying and recording complaints in accordance with the Police Reform Act 2002, updating records in respect of complaint investigations. Ensure the accurate population and maintenance of the PSD databases.
  • To prepare and record referral documentation in accordance with IOPC guidance and forward to IOPC with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare appropriate documentation in respect of officers and staff suspended from duty ensuring that notification of suspension is made to relevant persons.
  • To record and process FOI requests within appropriate timescales.
  • To liaise with other Constabulary Staff, the public and other organisations as necessary regarding the work of the Investigating Officers, answering both internal and external enquiries received both by telephone and in writing in a helpful, efficient and professional manner.
  • To analyse information, providing reports and statistical data for use both within the department and outside when required.
  • To assist with the disclosure of police officers’ disciplinary/misconduct and/or criminal convictions (Disclosure Manual and CIPA). This entails liaison with and advice to police officers subject to such, Criminal Justice Unit Managers, the Crown Prosecution Service and other interested parties.
  • To prepare and draft correspondence for signature by the Head of Department/Business Support Manager. To provide support to the Business Support Manager as required.
  • To co-ordinate and administer the set up and running of Misconduct Tribunal Hearings and Meetings for both staff and police officers and attend the Hearings in order to record the proceedings, ensuring that the relevant files and paperwork are correctly prepared and available. To meet and usher witnesses and arrange for payment of expenses where applicable and to give procedural advice to the Chairperson when requested.
  • To deputise for the PSD IOPC Appeals Co-Ordinator and Office Supervisor, in the post holder’s absence, undertaking certain duties, as designated.
  • To cover the role of PSD Administrator as and when required.
  • To be aware of Force policies on Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection and to comply with the legislation and standards of “good Practice”.
  • To give regular and effective service.

Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 3 OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.

QCF Level 2 passes in English and Mathematics

Essential Experience

To have at least one year’s experience in an administrative post.

To be computer/keyboard literate and a competent keyboard user.
