Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 3 OR work experience deemed to have
brought the role holder to a comparable level.

Note: For applicants already trained / qualified as a Fingerprint
Examiner, the following requirement also applies:

“Trained and passed the Advance Practical Assessment set by a College of Policing licensed training provider.

Have experience and be demonstrably competent in applying fingerprint identification techniques.”

Essential Experience

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills which support the
ability to make reasoned decisions in a logical, efficient and
effective manner.

To be computer literate and a competent keyboard user.

Proven ability to prioritise workload and work in a demanding
environment methodically undertaking complex tasks with a
meticulous attention to detail to deliver accurate, quality assured
results.

Proven experience of communicating and providing information
in an understandable format for the end user, in line with
procedural guidelines.

Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative to manage a
demanding workload in order to meet operational deadlines.

Experience in the use of Automated Fingerprint Identification
Systems (e.g. Ident1).

Experience in the application of fingerprint identification
techniques, using the Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation and
Verification (ACE-v) methodology and the concept of
Quantitative-Qualitative Friction Ridge Analysis.

A sound understanding of fingerprint and forensic processes and
how they contribute to both the investigative and criminal justice
processes.
