Digital Forensics Examiner

Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Digital Forensics Examiner for a client based in Twickenham.

This part time role requires a strong aptitude for digital investigation and the ability to operate within a demanding environment with minimal supervision.  Developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to undertake liaison responsibilities with a wide range of client, partner and member organizations are fundamental. Investigations and examinations to be completed to the highest criminal evidential standards with the potential outcome of giving evidence in court. 

Hours: Part-time, 4 days a week
Location: Twickenham, office based.
Contract: 1 year FTC
Salary: £40,000 per annum

Main Responsibilities
To work as a member of the investigation team in support of investigations requiring forensic capture & preservation, processing & analysis and, reporting of digital devices, the core business being the detection and investigation of offences concerning the infringement of intellectual property including all forms of broadcasts and audio-visual transmissions. 
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Forensic examination and investigation of electronic devices in line with legislation, NPCC guidance and best practice. 
  • Liaison with law enforcement, partner agencies, and internal investigators in support of investigations including attending searches, preparing forensic strategies and supporting prosecutions by producing forensic reports and presenting evidence in court.
  • Examination of new devices and other methodologies
  • Production of internal information reports with intelligence gained from the forensic examination of digital media
  • Working in line with established procedures and support the digital forensic laboratory’s ongoing efforts in achieving ISO17025 accreditation.
  • Representing the business in the capacity of Digital Forensic Investigator.

Person Specification

  • Applications from candidates with relevant digital forensics Certifications will be particularly welcome. For example, EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), X-Ways X-Pert, Nuix Forensic Practitioner Certification or Cellebrite Certified Operator (CCO) and/or Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA). 
  • High degree of competency and experience of using industry-standard digital forensic software tools as mentioned above 
  • Technical knowledge of a wide range of streaming devices, apps and evolving technology
  • Understanding of the need to manage sensitive/confidential information
  • Law enforcement experience or equivalent in conducting digital forensic examinations 
  • Experience in exhibit handling principles and procedures
  • Experience acting as an expert witness in court & presenting evidence in prosecutions
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts and information to varied audiences
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, facilitative and consulting skills
  • Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited environment
  • Work diligently, expeditiously and effectively as a team member and maximise efficiency within the organisation
  • Ability to demonstrate objectivity, sound reasoning, and deliver solutions with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate systematic planning of workloads
  • Adapt as the external landscape and organisation evolves

    • Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA)

    • Copyright Designs & Patents Act 1988 (CDPA), Trade Marks Act 1994 (TMA), & Video Recordings Act 1984 (VRA)
    • Computer Misuse Act 1990
    • Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR, etc.
