What are we looking for in our successful candidate?

 

We are looking for someone who is educated to QCF Level 7, or who has work experience deemed to be at a comparable level. It is also essential that the successful candidate has extensive experience of working at a senior level in procurement within a multi-disciplinary organisation.

 

Essential Criteria

 

  • A strong understanding of the strategic context for procurement, with proven experience of developing and implementing business processes and strategies aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant UK Procurement legislation, regulatory requirements, and policy.
  • Demonstrable experience of applying critical thinking and analysis to resolve complex and strategic procurement issues and make sound, evidence‑based recommendations.
  • Proven ability to deliver outcomes that support departmental and corporate objectives while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external procurement regulations.
  • Strong project management and planning skills, with the ability to manage complex workloads and competing priorities effectively.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, persuasion, and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Significant line management experience, including coaching and mentoring to develop team capability and performance, and managing employee relations and conduct matters.

 

 

Desirable Criteria

 

  • Experience of working in a policing or public sector organisation
