For some years now, ‘Skills for Life’ have featured as a key performance area for the probation service.
A Skills for Life Trainer may deliver literacy, numeracy, ESOL and IT qualifications to offenders subject to supervision in the Community.
The aim of the post is to help learners gain the necessary skills to achieve employer recognised qualifications which will ultimately assist them to find employment.
Skills for life assessment and training is usually delivered to offenders on either a 1:1 basis or within a small group Frequently this tuition takes place within a specially equipped and designated room at the local probation office.
Prior experience of delivering Skills for life tuition is essential.
