In her new role as ACC, Sarah Jackson will have the responsibility of the Crime portfolio, including Serious and Organised Crime, Public Protection and Forensic Services.

She had previously worked with GMP before transferring to Cumbria in 2017 where she worked as Head of Professional Standards and the Commander of Operations and Neighbourhood Policing.

Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Jackson said: "Today was a really proud day for me as it officially marked my return to my home force, Greater Manchester Police.

"Now is a great time to join GMP as we continue to make positive changes to the service we provide, and I'm really excited for the road ahead. I've no doubt there will be challenges but, having already met a lot of my dedicated new and existing colleagues, I have confidence in our collective efforts to overcome them.

"Today was also a good opportunity to meet new colleagues who are starting out on their policing journey and wish them all the best for the future."

Last month the force reassured officers that plans to recruit officers via transfers from other forces wouldn’t impact on current teams.
