West Mercia’s Police and Crime Panel has confirmed Essex DCC as the new chief constable and she will take up the role in September.

DCC Mills was recently named as the preferred candidate for the job by PCC John Campion after a selection process that involved four candidates.

PCC Campion said “I am impressed with her vision to deliver improvements in policing for our communities. I am confident she will maximise on the additional investment I have made in policing. Outstanding leadership is key, in ensuring the force tackles crime effectively and delivers for the public.”

Pippa Mills said “I am incredibly proud to have been confirmed as the first Female Chief Constable of West Mercia Police. I look forward to commencing in the force in September.

The appointment was made after the current Chief Constable Anthony Bangham announced he would be retiring after 30 years of service.
