This is an exciting time to join the team as the area of CAVA is currently under development, and as Inspector you will be able to help shape and embed these changes. Work is ongoing under Process Evolution to understand demand and streamline processes, and you will be integral in ensuring that an enhanced service through the MACHs and CHUBs (Children’s Hubs) is delivered.
You will also be responsible for serious and complex crimes such as supporting the coroners with investigating adult deaths and sudden infant deaths.
CAVA is part of the wider Safeguarding Team which also covers the areas of the Complex Exploitation Team, Domestic Abuse, Sexual Offender Management, and the Protecting Vulnerable People Support Hub.
As part of the wider Safeguarding team which is made up of five Detective Inspectors and the PVP Support Hub Manager, you will cover all aspects of Safeguarding when required. Learning and development opportunities around the other Safeguarding areas will be available, enabling continuous professional development.
An understanding of vulnerability is vital, specifically in relation to the complex needs of adult and child victims. You will have the ability to lead and motivate, ensuring that your team effectively identify, manage and prioritise risk. Experience of working with key partners and agencies is essential, with the ability to foster excellent working relationships, influencing and negotiating where necessary. As the Inspector within CAVA you will engender inter-agency working with partner agencies enabling the team to help prevent and risk manage incidents and safeguard victims.

Newly promoted Inspectors within Cleveland Police must retain their assigned posting for 12 months. If you are nearing the end of this 12 month period you are eligible to apply, and if successful any agreed move date to CAVA would take place after completing your assigned 12 month posting.
If successful to join Cleveland Police as a transferee you will be posted to the role for which you have applied, and the intention is that you would remain in this post for a significant period. However as per Regulations, please note that the Chief Officer does reserve the right to move you within the Force if required.
