The St Helena Police Service comprises of a Chief of Police, three Chief Inspectors (Community and Operations, Operation Support and Development and Crime) one Inspector, six Sergeants and 16 Constables. Within these resources, investigations comprise of a DS and 4 DCs.

You will investigate current and historical serious and complex crime including sexual offences and those perpetrated against children and vulnerable adults, securing and preserving evidence. In partnership with the Attorney Generals’ Chambers you will build successful prosecution cases and support victims and survivors throughout the investigation and criminal justice processes. Interviewing witnesses and suspects you will prepare prosecution files, fulfil disclosure obligation and facilitate multi-agency information sharing as appropriate. You must work across all shifts when required and be ‘on call’.

Having broad policing experience and as an accredited PIP2 trained or equivalent detective, you will also have training and experience in Joint Investigations and in the conduct of ABE interviews with children. With a strong background in the investigation of serious sexual offences you will have knowledge and experience of child and adult safeguarding procedures.
