- Detective Inspectors who have completed their probation period and been confirmed in rank, and are currently serving with a UK based force and are PIP2 qualified.

Below are some extra details that help explain the process of transferring to work in our force.
We will begin to process your application immediately on receipt. Applicants who are successfully shortlisted will be invited for an interview at the Avon and Somerset Police Headquarters, normally within two weeks. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the interview within a week.. We would expect, subject to references and clearance checks that applicants will take up their appointments within two months.
Please submit your application by Sunday the 28th of October no later than 23:59 hours.

Current Force policy requires officers to live in the Avon and Somerset Constabulary borders and ordinarily within a 20 mile radius of their station of posting. However, we would strongly recommend that you do not enter into any lease or purchase of property until a posting is confirmed.
Postings are decided on the basis of our Force need for personnel at particular locations. Individual preferences will be noted and attempts made to accommodate, depending on the Force's need at the time.
You will ordinarily be expected to remain in your first Detective posting within the Constabulary for a minimum of two years however this would not preclude you applying for promotion should you wish in this timeframe.
For those officers who currently receive housing or rent allowance in their existing force, our force equivalent allowance to our maximum will be paid.
Salary and leave
Officers in this Force are paid in accordance with the national rates. Salaries are paid directly into officer's bank or building society account on the 28th of each month.
Leave already booked by a successful officer will be honoured for this year, but officers must advise us of these dates in writing when invited to attend the assessment centre.
If an officer has agreed carry over of leave with their current force for the previous year, we will honour the carryover of up to 5 days into the current period.
Under most circumstances pension rights are directly transferable from one force to another.
All applicants will be required to attend a Medical Assessment, Uniform Fitting, Biometrics, Drugs and a Physical Fitness test on the day of their interview.
The fitness test will consist of the following elements:
- Warm up to level 3 on endurance fitness shuttle run (bleep test) followed by two minutes of stretching.
- Endurance fitness shuttle run (bleep test) up to level 5/4.
- Dynamic strength test (dyno machine) - push 34kgs; pull 35kgs.

If you have a BMI of 30.1 or more, you will be referred for a body fat assessment (BFA). The outcome of the BFA will determine whether you are eligible to join.
If you have a BMI of 35.1 or more, your application will not be processed further unless there are compelling or exceptional circumstances.
