INTELLIGENCE CRIME ANALYST

JOB DESCRIPTION

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a UK Caribbean Overseas Territory located 60 miles east of Puerto Rico. To further develop the RVIPF crime investigations capability and capacity, the Commissioner of Police is seeking to recruit for the position of INTELLIGENCE CRIME ANALYST for two (2) year residency service, reviewable after one year.

The contract will be subject to the following terms and conditions:

1. 1 year residency service with the option of renewal, if required.
2. Reimbursement of passage to the Virgin Islands, normally the cheapest and most direct route and reimbursement on satisfactory completion of contract to home country.
3. Relocation allowance of $400.00 for the transportation of baggage and personal effects on appointment and $400.00 on satisfactory completion of engagement.
4. Annual leave at for Crime Analyst at 25 days.
5. Gratuity on base salary at 5% on satisfactory completion of contract.

SALARY RANGE:

$51,856.00 annually, plus allowances up to US$13,800.00

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Social Science, Business Administration, or related field
Three (3) years working experience in a related area

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Collect, collate, evaluate and analyse information from a wide variety of internal and external sources to determine committed crime, criminal intelligence policing activities and law enforcement matters, in order to produce high quality analytical services.
  2. Establish possible links between suspected offenders and committed crimes, illustrating evidential connections within criminal investigations, providing intelligence briefings, presentations, and recommendations to file criminal charges.
  3. Analyse relationships between different entities to establish hierarchy and structure to identify intervention points, information gaps and further information requirements to facilitate the disruption of criminal or other related activities
  4. Ensure the development of the Force’s skills and provide a sustainable intelligence capability by establishing sound policies and operating procedures for the analytical capability for the Intelligence Unit and Force.
  5. Support the implementation of an embedded intelligence culture within the organisation using the principles of the UK based National Intelligence Model or other developed approach.
  6.  Attend court and provide evidence in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  7. Assist with the preparation of the territory’s Threat Assessment on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and make recommendations to address issues raised.
  8. Provide analytical support to investigations as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer, including financial analytical support.
  9. Liaise with the Force Statistician and Performance Manager in analysing crime/incident trends, hotspots, offender profiles, etc., as part of the intelligence capability of the organisation and information to National Security Council and the community.
