Key Responsibilities
The post holder will serve as the National Security Vetting (NSV) lead for the Cayman Islands Government (CIG), with the primary responsibility for establishing and managing a National Security Vetting (NSV) Unit and service.
The Unit will operate centrally, from within the Office of the Deputy Governor (ODG), ensuring all vetting activities are conducted efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with data protection requirements and an approved National Security Vetting Framework.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
As a minimum, applicants should possess:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Studies, Public Administration, Law, or a related field, and/or relevant professional certifications and specialised training in areas such as:
o Advanced Vetting Officer Training from a recognized security agency or institution.
o Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
o Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) from ASIS International.
o Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
o Data Protection Certification such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).
o Risk Management Training to develop advanced risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
o Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training.
o Security Clearance Training from recognized national or international security agencies.
Applicants must have:
• Comprehensive understanding of national security vetting processes, policies, and best practices.
• In-depth knowledge of data protection regulations and secure data handling procedures.
• Understanding of risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies.
• Extensive experience in a national security vetting role, preferably within a government or large organizational setting.
• Proven track record of establishing and managing a vetting unit or similar operational unit.
• Experience in managing and leading teams, including performance management and professional development.
• Experience handling complex and high-risk vetting cases, including conducting interviews and making final decisions.
