Emergency Services Centre (ESC) Assistant

Background

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Emergency Services Centre (ESC) team as an ESC Assistant.  You will work  in a busy Control Room as part of a dedicated team.

The Role

The ESC Assistant works 37 hours a week covering Monday-Friday (office hours only).

The ESC Assistant needs to be well organised with an excellent telephone manner and will provide strong administrative support to the service area and management team. You will deal with customers, internal departments, and external agencies on a daily basis.
You will use various computer systems in the course of your work.
The ESC’s main areas of operation deal with;-

  • Monitoring of closed-circuit television (CCTV)
  • Co-ordinating response to the Home Emergency Alarms Response Service (HEARS)
  • Taking out-of-hours calls from members of the public and external bodies.

Day to Day

You will be based at the main Ipswich Borough Council Offices and will largely be dealing with all the administrative tasks relating to the HEARS service.

About You

You will be enthusiastic and reliable and educated with Maths and English qualifications.

Previous experience of an administrative role is essential with significant call handling experience.
